Chapter 4 Pg 13

Annnd we finally have a page! Honestly I do work on these as often as I can, although I’ve been experiencing some technical and biological fail. But if you want to spy on me as I work, I’ve been doing Livestreams for Brymstone every Wednesday at 9pm PST. Come and join if you want to spy on my progress. Speaking of progress, there is now a progress bar to help keep you appraised of where I’m at for the next page. Hopefully I’ll figure out a better way to flat that’s faster and doesn’t rely on my failing mouse.

ALSO, I’m talking with a printer about the graphic novel in terms of quantities, and I’m wondering if anyone would be interested in pre-orders. The book would be bout 120 pages, perfect bound, glossy cover, full colour cover and insides. I’m not sure the price yet, but if you are interested, would you consider pre-ordering? If I sweetened the deal with some extra Brymstone swag such as buttons or bookmarks, or perhaps a citizenship card to the Kingdom of Hakkred? I still haven’t decided on all my extras yet, but there will be sketches, possibly some extra pages that aren’t online. If you have any extras you like to see in a graphic novel, please leave a comment!

Hello! I’m a long time reader, first time . . . writer, and I have to say that I love this comic so far! I just . . . really love everything about it! (Eloquent, I know.) I started reading this comic over a year ago, and I thank you for continuing to update in spite of the hardships in your life.

I’m writing mostly to say that I honestly don’t ~know~ whether I’d pre-order the comic or not. I want to, but I’m just not sure if I actually will yet. It depends on where I am financially when the pre-orders start.

Hi Rachel! Thanks for going from a lurker to a commenter! It means a lot to me when I see people getting involved!

Like I said, I’m just trying to get a sense of interest. I’m going to be printing the comics regardless, but they will be used for my convention stuff. Since I won’t be doing a lot of them, I thought pre-orders would be a nice way to offer books to people who wouldn’t be able to make the cons and possibly ease the burden of the print costs to me. Its totally cool if you can’t afford it, I’m just trying to see if its worth setting up preorders.

BAY UM! Haha, i was right. Monster eating children, monster eating children! Wait, a full year? The laselian order’s a bunch of uninterested putzs.

    • ShadowsMyst

The Laselian order isn’t exactly a bunch of superheros out to perform daring-do for any peasant in trouble. You’ll learn more about how they work later. 🙂

      • Anime fan

I never claimed they were daring-do-gooders but to let something take children, right next door. Thats just sad.

as a side note i love Rushe’s face in the second panel. ^-^

      • ShadowsMyst

I can only reply to my comment and not yours Anime fan, sadly, BUT that being said, the distance between the monastery and where they are now isn’t really well shown. I’m still harping on my other half to do me up a nice overland map that I can show where all the cities and landmarks are, but they are actually a ways away from the monastery. The Laselian Monks also have very strict rules around what they will and will not engage in battle with. But as you will soon see, this village’s problem falls under another groups jurisdiction that isn’t doing their job.

    • Hoheh

The order is clearly more out to catch and redeem demons than to help everyone. Though, to be fair, considering what saod demons can do…

  3. Crowe

Oh dear side quest here we go, But looking back on it the whole point of travel is getting sidetracked. Go for it.

  4. batz

    Ah, side-quests…

Reminds me of this one session I once did. My players had amassed an overload of side-quests, and ignored the OBVIOUS clues that the dark lord would be attacking soon. I mean seriously, I said: ” DARK CLOUDS ARE GATHERING ABOVE THE VILLAGE”

But killing the wolf that was terrorizing farms, and collecting herbs for tea was more important to them.

    • ShadowsMyst

Well for us this was actually the start of the adventure, we had no other concrete goals yet, we were all just traveling. Individual characters had motivations, but this wasn’t a side quest, it was *the* quest at the time, at least from a player perspective.

Although clearly if farming and fishing was more important they’ve been playing too much WoW and not enough tabletop.

The plot again thickens. Never gets boring. ^_^

    • ShadowsMyst

Ultimately I hope it gets far more exciting later on. I do have so much planned, its so frusterating that I can only draw so fast.. and that I only get to draw at night when I’m already 95% dead from working all day.

  6. Marshmallows

Daww… I now take pity on the poor bar lady… please don’t cry.

Also, Rushe makes a fine pet.

    • ShadowsMyst

Indeed, Rushe does make a fine pet. Bar lady does have a good reason to be distraught. People do kind of go bibbly when they lose their kids.

  7. Marshmallows

At the same time, I don’t trust that strange smile on the blue guy. I hope he isn’t the monster.

    • ShadowsMyst

Oh no. You guys will never guess who/what the monster is. Heh heh. I know we, as players in the game, were floored when we learned the truth.

  8. Hoheh

Rushe getting his head rubbed is far more adorable than I can easily ignore.

    • ShadowsMyst

Honestly, its my favorite picture of him ever. I need to draw him all catboy, just for giggles.
