I bet you never expected to see this.

Although don’t get too excited yet. I’m going to try to get once a week updates going again for Fridays. I’ve rescheduled my class I teach to mondays so I’ll have tues/wed/thurs to get the pages done. There may be some break with color if I can’t get the color done, or only base shades or something. But I DO want to make sure this gets going on again.

I did have some comics left over at the end of last convention season and they can be ordered through my store at evilspacecat.com. Its pretty much chapter one, re-lettered and tweeked a little. Although the last page contains Darshe’s full real name. XD I’m completely redrawing chapter 2 for the next issue, but its far from done. I don’t intend to update the site with the new artwork though, as it will be formatted from the get go for print, and I don’t really want to reformat it twice. So if you want to see the new art, you’ll have to order a copy.

Whew. And its another page closer to PLOT. There’s actually some in this page. I LOVE Raif in the bottom left panel putting his swords away. And look who’s back. Its Rowan, his mind ever on food. Completely doesn’t care he just raided someone else’s kitchen for it.

And now, in other news. I do another comic called “Shifters Redux“, you may have heard about it. It is with great pleasure I can now say that it is updating again. It started on  June 6th, and with some special help from Mad Cheshire, It will hopefully be a weekly update. I’m TRYING to get set up with a colorist on this comic too, but with getting Shifters set up, AND getting the book put together in time for the various events I’ll be at, like Minicomi, Cos & Effect, and Vcon, its been a bit troublesome. But I’m trying.

You know, I think I need to write this stuff in advance, because inevitably when I finish the comic at like 1am, I’m all like DURRRR when I go to write these things. There’s always stuff I wanna ask you guys during the week and then when I get to the point where I actually post the comic, its like everything falls out of my head. So you get 1 am hallucination rambles. Hooray.

I think I remember a few things I wanted to say through the hazy fog of OMG-I-am-so-tired. One is to point out that, in case you didn’t know, Brymstone has a facebook page and you should like it if you haven’t already. Secondly I thought I’d get your guys thoughts on the forum. No one has used it for a while (granted it was broken for a bit there) But its fixed now! I’m even working on an roleplaying area in the forums. If you are into that, input is welcome. Are like forums totally out of style or something and is that why no one uses them? And speaking of style, what exactly is the point of Tumblr? Oh yes, and forumspring. I have a forumspring account, no one ever asks me anything on it, so its all empty and lonely and pathetic. Why do I have this again? Social media is so hard to keep up on. Although I do twitter a fair amount. Follow me for updates and notifications of livestreams of me drawing! I only really put notes on twitter or on my Deviantart account. Lastly, if you haven’t voted in the poll, please do.

Well it was at least close to the day I wanted to update. Still having some issues with recovery related pain and such, but at least the page got done.

I was amazed at the response on the last page, really guys, you guy are awesome!

I thought I might point out to those who might have noticed a delay in their comments showing up, that if you are NOT registered, or never commented with the name/email you are using, it requires me to manually approve the comment the first time. It should show up quickly afterwords. Of course, if you are registered, it should just let you comment as you please.

I know this is going a little slow at the moment, but we’ll see some serious story progression soon.

I’m very sorry its taken so very long, but here’s an update, with more to come. Last year was rather brutal. At the beginning of the year I suffered a major problem with my long term relationship which shook me to the very core. I’m still dealing with aspects of it. I’ve also been rather sick with a medical problem that required major abdominal surgery.  I finally had the surgery in Dec and it went well, but I’m still recovering. But I’m hoping that with the problem resolved that I will once again be able to resume doing comic stuff instead of constantly being sick or running around to hospitals and doctor’s appointments.

I’ve also made a few decisions about how I’m going to update Brymstone in 2011 moving forward. I’m going to be trying for a biweekly schedule, weekly if I can manage it, but I’m not promising right now as I’m still recovering from my surgery. Also, I’m going to be updating on the main site in advance of the mirror on Drunk Duck. Probably it will be updating a few pages in advance, so if you want the most current story, you’d probably best bookmark or follow the RSS for the site.

Here’s to a hopefully much better 2011 than 2010. Thank you to everyone who’s kept the faith and stuck around. Enjoy.

Holy crap.

The fact this ever made it to the online world is a small miracle unto itself. The last few months have been, quite simply, hell. And sadly, through it, the comic was something that had to play second fiddle to my RL crisis of epic proportions.

I won’t go too far into it, nor am I going to name the parties involved, but  to sum it up the two people I thought cared about me the most stabbed me in the back, and had been stabbing for some time. There was a brief period of homelessness, couch surfing, having had to leave my home due to the afford mentioned crisis, and then going through a process to reclaim my home and deal with the problem at hand, and then there was/is the ongoing process of trying to pick up the pieces of my shattered life and try to puzzle them back together. Long time friends have been lost, homes have been broken, and budgets hammered and much therapy will be needed over this whole debacle into the next year.

This is the sort of thing that destroys most people. Fortunately I am not most people.

I’m just now starting to get my creative drive back, doing what I can to resume some semblance of normality to my life, trying to re-establish routines and see what I can recover of my former existence. I’ve gotten an offer of help for the coloring duties, we’ll see how that pans out, it may or may not work at this point, but I’m hopeful. I’ve also been working on Shiftersonline.com and hopefully something will come in that vein soon.

Yes, I know its been a ridiculously long time since I updated. I am aware of this. I’m trying to remedy this, its just.. well been equally ridiculously difficult to work on this. I’m not sure how to make it easier, I’m going to be going to see the doctor about doing something about my wrists (I suffer from pretty severe carpal tunnel at times), and its been quite bad recently. But I’m looking into doing what I can. After work my wrists have just been too messed up to work for any more than a few hours here and there on anything needing fine motor skills of my hands or clutching a mouse. I have tried to get people to help, but they have their own lives, and doing things for free.. well lets just say things haven’t been particularly timely. And since I can’t pay for any help, well I’m just going to have to struggle through it as best I can. The worst is the coloring, I could post pages ontime if they were just black and white… but then they would suck comparatively. Its hard to find a balance between quality and timeliness.

Anyway, If you want to see me work on this and ask me stuff, you can tune into my ustream cast which is Thursday nights at 8pm PST ( I know that’s late for you eastern folks, but I can’t do it any earlier…). If you just want to ask me random stuff, I recently got a formspring account, where random questions are the order of the day.

There is also a facebook group for Brymstone, and my Deviant art account where I post stuff like Ustream reminders and such if you have a DA account and want to watch me.

Needed some time off to sort stuff out and try to get some work out of the way, and I have now done so. Also new for 2010, we are going to try a Monday update schedule, and hopefully, that will actually give me enough time, with classes to get pages done on time.

The chapter that is! WHOOT! FINALLY DONE! This makes me a very happy person indeed as now I get to move on to many wonderful things such as:

• introducing the last main character!
• revealing Rushe’s secret phobia!
• getting into the meat of the plot!
• blowing up stuff!

And the list is long indeed!

So Xmas is coming up, and I’m wondering if people would be interested in any Brymstone stuff for gifts and what not. Snarky T-shirts? Colorful calendars? Prodigious posters? Printed comics? Any suggestions or requests? I’m still pondering submitting a design for a toy to PatchTogether, but I’m not sure what yet. I thought Darshe might make a cool toy, but it I think I’d have to actually show some artwork to get people excited.

Also, I’m looking at doing something a little special for the holidays here at the site, for the fans, for the members that I can get in contact with at least. Maybe a little contest, or some kind of digital xmas goodies.  I’ll post more as this comes, but if there is something you’d like to see, or think would be a good gift to you, the readers, please, leave a comment.
